Announcing YWIB RTP’s Second Spring Into STEM™: Today’s Students, Tomorrow’s Scientists.
YWIB RTP, in collaboration with Graduate Women in Science RT, is excited to be hosting its second Spring Into STEM™ event on April 28, 2018. YWIB RTP held the first ever Spring Into STEM™ event in 2016 in the Research Triangle Park area, which lead the way for YWIB to create a national festival around Spring into STEM™.
Middle school girls are invited to an afternoon of scientific activities. Fields of science represented include: chemistry, physics, ecology, epidemiology and molecular biology. Experiments, networking, and a keynote talk will be presented by local women in STEM and volunteers from the Graduate Women in Science and Women in Bio local chapters. Each student will also get their own lab notebook to take home.
“These events are designed to ignite curiosity in STEM, expose girls to the vast range of career opportunities in STEM, and connect young women with their peers and industry leaders who can help provide academic advice and career guidance,” said Lily Wound, National Chair of YWIB. “The Spring Into STEM™ Festival highlights what our volunteers across the country and in Montreal do all year long, which is to develop stimulating events and programs that pave the way for young girls to explore their passion for science and discover career pathways in STEM.”
The YWIB RTP and GWIS RT Spring Into STEM™ event will be held at North Carolina State University’s Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC), on Centennial Campus, on April 28, 2018 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
