Young Women In Bio (YWIB) is a nationwide, nonprofit, volunteer organization that encourages young women and girls to explore opportunities, education, and careers in STEM. YWIB is affiliated with Women In Bio.
Our mission at YWIB-Southern California is to create programs and events that ignite girls’ curiosity of the sciences while nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit. Our events are geared towards encouraging middle and high school girls to consider the life sciences as a career choice by giving them exposure to different aspects of the thriving Greater San Diego biotechnology ecosystem.
Our goal is to connect the diverse Greater San Diego community of young women with the robust and innovative science community right at our backdoor.
In fact, we have already hosted a number of inspiring events, having partnered with leading local and national organizations, such as Winward Academy and Girl Scouts. The most recent event is featured in the latest YWIB Spring Into STEM Newsletter. We also have a partnership with Biocom Institute.

Our first and newest Special Champion Chapter Sponsor is Scientist.com. Their support was key to getting our YWIB-Southern California chapter off the ground. We had a successful social media campaign that highlighted incredible Women in STEM and for each click and like they made a monetary donation to YWIB. Thank you Scientist.com for your support!
