Amy Bernal, MBA
Chief Experience Officer, Aira.io
Amy leads People and Partners at Aira.io, a San Diego startup that is changing lives through the interaction of smart wearable devices, AI, and real, remote people, called Aira Agents. Prior to Aira, Amy served various business & technology operations roles at Intuit. Before moving into tech, Amy managed a portfolio for the Gary and Mary West Foundation, partnering with organizations to reduce the cost of health care for older adults through technology or preventative care. She holds an MBA from the University of California San Diego Rady School of Management. In her personal time, Amy promotes women in technology through her involvement with Athena, Women Give San Diego, the SAIL mentorship program, and the Rady Alumni Board. She and her husband live downtown and love tacos and wine.
Cindy Salas Murphy, MPH
Cindy Salas Murphy is the Founder and CEO of WithHealth. WithHealth is a San Diego-based telemedicine company that is making access to specialty physicians affordable and immediate. Through the application of genomics, connected diagnostic devices, and other innovations, patients can access precision health across all medical specialties for $25-85 per visit. Cindy has more than 20 years of experience in leading transformation in healthcare for hospitals, medical groups and start-ups – with a successful exit. Her outcomes include the growth of a start-up to more than $1B under management, improved patient safety, quality, service, and growth, while also reducing cost and optimizing productivity levels. Successfully led initiatives in quality and service which now perform in the top 10 percent or better in patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and publicly reported measures. Her passion includes precision health, improving access to care, destigmatizing mental health and eliminating health disparities. She holds a Master's in Public Health from San Diego State University and a Bachelor in Science from Mount St. Mary’s University.
VP Business Development Digital Health, Cooley
Ilana Brand serves as vice president, business development for Cooley’s global digital health practice. She has 15+ years of experience in marketing, business development, strategic partnerships, and communications. Ilana advises growth companies in the digital health sector, facilitating introductions to investors, strategists, advisors, and talent to help companies thrive.
Throughout her tenure at Cooley, she headed strategic marketing initiatives for Cooley’s global life sciences practice and helped launch the firm’s digital health practice. Prior to Cooley, Ilana served as director of Innovation Programs at CONNECT, a San Diego based organization promoting entrepreneurship, capital formation, and innovation. Ilana has been a member of the BIO International Convention Program Committee since 2014, where she has been a key driver of the Digital Health Track at BIO for the last five years. Ilana earned her BA from Brandeis University in Economics and Sociology.
