Come learn about the stages of embryonic development with volunteers from Young Women In Bio (YWIB). We will discuss how long development takes in humans and other animals, the similarities and differences among species, and will include a hands-on activity with chick embryos. You will also have the opportunity to speak with women scientists and learn about their career paths.

 

YWIB Age Group

This is a closed event that is only open to middle and high school students in the College Track program. 

 

Program

5:30 p.m. – 5:35  p.m.: Introduction to YWIB
5:35 p.m.–  5:50  p.m.: Introduction to embryonic development + activity 
5:50 p.m.–  6.30  p.m.: Demo and hands-on activity
6:30 p.m. – 6.45  p.m.: Wrap-up and discussion with YWIB volunteers
