Kathy Terlesky, Ph.D.
Chief Operating Officer, Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research
Kathy Terlesky received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and her Doctorate in Microbiology from Virginia Tech. She worked as a Research Scientist in the laboratory for 10 years with Monsanto Corporation and General Dynamics co-developing inventions in E. coli expression vectors and environmental microbiology. She then transitioned into Project Management and organizational management at General Dynamics and subsequently at Leidos. She joined Leidos (formerly SAIC) in 2006 holding positions that provided exposure to diverse challenges and learning opportunities in the government contracting environment. As a Division Manager at Leidos, she led an engineering organization in technology development for the intelligence community. She implemented new quality management and business models which significantly improved productivity and profitability while garnering multiple technology innovation awards. She joined Leidos Biomedical Research in Frederick MD in 2014 and became Chief Operating Officer in 2016. She has been married for over 30 years and has 3 grown children. She lives in both Frederick MD and Charlottesville VA and enjoys spending her spare time doing genealogy research or playing outdoors.

Andi Overton is the Director of Business Development at Mount St. Mary’s University’s Frederick Campus. She works to bring industry and academia together, helping folks reach their professional goals through academia, workforce development, and mentorship. Andi has dedicated her professional career to serving the underserved while fighting for equality and equity. Andi is also a dedicated mentor, volunteer and President of the Washington County Commission for Women. A 2019 Emerge Maryland graduate, Andi has two graduate degrees and is working toward her doctorate with Frostburg State University’s program at USMH.
