On September 15, 2015, the San Francisco Bay Area Women In Bio chapter held an engaging and informative event on how startup companies can tap into the modern biotech financial landscape. Panelists included moderator Una Ryan, Ph.D. (founder, ULUX; angel investor), Phyllis Whiteley, Ph.D. (venture partner, Mohr Davidow Ventures), Nancy Stagliano (CEO, True North Therapeutics), and Lindy Fishburne (Executive Director, Breakout Labs).
The panelists highlighted their own experiences, shared advice on how to value companies and think about funding strategies, and offered insight into business strategies in an evolving (and unstable!) financial climate. They also answered audience questions about skills a CEO needs to lead a company through different stages of growth, reimbursement considerations, and current financing trends.
In one attendee's words, "The panelists and moderator were amazing. I liked that they were tactical and honest, not just saying generalizations." Many thanks to our panelists, and to Cooley, LLP, our event sponsors and hosts for the evening!
