Prioritizing Gender Equity: What does it take to reach and succeed at the “C” and Board level?
On June 11, 2015, men and women from around the Bay Area gathered at Genentech to learn about gender equity at the C- and Board-level in biotech.
The evening kicked off with a presentation by Peg McAllister (Senior Vice President, Lee Hecht Harrison), using data from Liftstream which highlighted the landscape and discussed factors that could drive change.
We then heard from an outstanding panel of CEOs and Partners from Bay Area companies - Laura Brege (CEO & President, Nodality, Inc), Mark Goldsmith (CEO & President, Revolution Medicines; Partner, Third Rock Ventures), Wende Hutton (General Partner, Canaan Partners), Kimberly Popovits (CEO, President and Chairman of the Board, Genomic Health, Inc), and Laura Shawver (CEO, Cleave Biosciences) in a discussion moderated by Heather Erickson (CEO and President, Life Sciences Foundation).
As one participant commented, "This event was a great and informative discussion. I hope to be able to engage in more events dealing with gender equality in bio and tech!" Our sincere thanks to growBOLD, our event partner, the panelists and sponsors for their time and support, and to the organizers and volunteers who help Women In Bio continue to promote careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship of women in life sciences.
