At the Atlanta Science Festival Exploration Expo on March 28, 2015, the ladies of YWIB honored four great women scientists with interactive demos. The labs performed were:
1) DNA extraction to honor Rosalind Franklin
2) Color chromatography to honor Marie Curie
3) Tulip dissection to honor Maria Sibylla Merian
4) A create-a-cell workshop to honor Elizabeth Blackburn.
The booth, "Women Rock in Science," was attended by many young children, who were encouraged to pursue their scientific interests and received YWIB bracelets for their participation. The women of YWIB-Atlanta were delighted about this opportunity to get involved and promote science with the kids of the metro-Atlanta area. We are all looking forward to participating in the festival again next year.
