Women In Bio-Atlanta members and friends met February 12, 2015, at a popular wine bar, Vino Venue of the Atlanta Wine School, for some tasty lessons. The sommelier began the class by making sure we all knew how to hold and taste wine. We all got the hang of carrying the glass by the stem and swirling the wine to release and smell the aromas. The sommelier encouraged us to drink and describe the flavors as we tasted. Many insisted that it just tasted like wine, but others were more perceptive and indicated eucalyptus, citrus, and pear among others. To further the lesson, the wine instructor chose for us a special selection of four wines and chocolates to demonstrate pairing flavors. She included a diverse set of wines (sauvignon blanc marlborough, cabernet sauvignon, pinot noir, and a dessert wine) to appeal to everyone’s preferences. We all enjoyed at least one of the pairings, while we all loved the chocolates. It was a great opportunity to just indulge in the finer things while in the company of colleagues.
