On September 20, 2016, WIB-RTP members attended a panel discussion on how academic scientists can transition into industry. The event began with Ben Boytor, Director of Quality Management at BD Technologies, presenting key tips to creating effective business messages.
Following Boytor’s presentation, panelists shared their unique career transition experiences as well as the daunting obstacles they encountered. The panel included: Laura McClung, Health Outcomes Liaison and Consultant at Eli Lilly and Company; Ginger Rothrock, Director of Emerging Technologies and Commercialization at RTI International; Sheetal Ghelani, Associate Director of Strategic Site Collaboration at PPD; Leigh Ann Tull, Account Manager at Sigma Aldrich; and Sathya Ganesan, Regulatory Affairs Manager at PPD.
These highly successful panelists engaged the audience in a lively discussion that was both technical and personal. All attendees learned how to evaluate transferable skills and prepare for their next career move.
