WIB-Atlanta YWIB: The Importance of Science and Vaccines, March 2, 2016

Posted By Breezy Lachance, Tuesday, June 11, 2019

On March 2, 2016, WIB-Atlanta Young Women In Bio (YWIB) Chair, Jenniffer Stetler, and her colleague, Asia Bright, both doctoral students in the Department of Biology at Georgia State University, spoke about the importance of herd immunity, vaccines, and STEM careers to a group of high school girls at the Mill Springs Academy in Alpharetta, GA.

The young women were interested and engaged by the case study, history, and benefits of vaccines, and were particularly excited to know about the many diverse opportunities available to women who decide to pursue careers in science.

Charlotte Sumner, an 11th grader who attended this meeting, wrote about her excellent experience at this event in the school newsletter.
