Posted By Breezy Lachance, Monday, June 3, 2019

April 27, 2018 - The CRL volunteers introduced grade 9 students of Sacred Heart and College Bourget to pharmacology, toxicology, and clinical research through lab tours, demonstration of lab experiment, and discussions in the field of science.

The event began with a brief history of how clinical research can change the lives of many individuals. After a quick snack the girls split up into small groups touring the labs which allowed them to see the cellular structure of their eyeballs, look at histological samples through a microscope, and practicing pipetting with different instruments. The activities ended with a discussion of what the future holds for the young students from various CRL employees over a pizza lunch.

Posted By Breezy Lachance, Monday, June 3, 2019

March 23, 2018 - The GCRC volunteers introduced grade 9 students of Vincent Massey Collegiate to biology through quizzes, workshops, and an interesting presentation of timeline and careers paths young students can take to achieve careers in STEM fields.
The event began with a brief history of women in the sciences displaying the dramatic difference of Marie Curie’s graduating class and what it looks like now. After a quick snack the girls split up into small groups touring the labs. Discussing proteins, DNA, and checking out cells through a microscope. The activities ended with a discussion of what the future holds for the young students. The volunteers at GCRC then kindly answered the many questions the students had over a pizza lunch.
