WIB-Greater Montreal 6th Anniversary Celebration: "Lift While You Climb," November 7, 2018

WIB-Greater Montreal celebrated its 6th anniversary with a cocktail dinner at Fasken, high atop the Stock Exchange Tower in downtown Montreal. The topic of discussion was how mentorship can help people through their career and nourish both mentors and mentees. Our top notch keynote speaker Christine Lennon, shared the wonderful story of her non-linear career path. She counted being bold and sharing one’s future plans with their surrounding people, as key elements in her success. Liz Cooper, our MAPS committee chair, moderated a very interactive and engaging series of questions and answers in which our audience actively participated and enjoyed. The discussion finished by a raffle for the book “Inferior: How science got women wrong – and the new research that’s Rewriting the Story” by Angela Saini. This book will be featured in our book club in January!

We would like to thank our speaker Christine Lennon - most recently founding President & CEO of Epigene Therapeutics Inc., as well as all the attendees for their participation. We also sincerely thank Fasken for being a generous supporter of WIB-Greater Montreal.

WIB-Montreal: Building a Strong Personal Brand to Boost Your Career, March 16, 2018/Bâtir son image professionnelle pour développer sa carrière

Posted By Breezy Lachance, Saturday, June 1, 2019

On March 16th 2018 The WIB-Greater Montreal Chapter had its Women’s History Month event on personal branding called, “Building a Strong Personal Brand to Boost Your Career”. We hosted the social media strategist Lina Duque with our first breakfast event of the year sponsored by Bereskin & Parr.  The morning started with a bit of networking before we jumped into the fascinating topic of personal branding. Lina offered invaluable advice on how to compose your biography for Twitter and LinkedIn, the importance of choosing the right hashtag to maximize your impact and outreach as well as do’s and don’ts when posting online. Finally, Lina shared testimonies on how appropriate use of social media advanced the career of multiple women. Moreover, Lina kindly offered a gift for the person with the most impactful tweet posted during the session. The winner will get a 1-hour session with Lina to enhance her digital presence. We want to thank Lina Duque for such an inspiring and interesting workshop and Bereskin & Parr for the delicious breakfast.
