On Memorial Day weekend, WIB-Pittsburgh joined the Western PA Conservancy (WPC), a non-profit, dedicated in protecting and restoring the region’s exceptional natural places since 1932. WPC works every day on protecting PA’s water, land and wildlife. They create green spaces and gardens that contribute to the vitality of the cities and towns in PA. As an opportunity to give back to the community, WIB Pittsburgh members spent their Saturday morning of May 25th, in downtown Pittsburgh planting flowers with WPC. It was a glorious day with plenty of sun and no rain. Six WIB members and one guest enjoyed planting zinnias and salivas. They dug the holes, planted the flowers, and then covered them with mulch. Lots of people who walked and drove by gave the WIB volunteers thumbs up and compliments on their work as they were planting, and thanked them for their service in beautifying the city of Pittsburgh. We can’t wait to see these flowers bloom!
