Women in Bio and Foley & Lardner sponsored an evening cocktail reception and panel discussion. The ImClone scandal and other highly publicized reports involving biotechnology companies served as a wake-up call to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). In the wake of such incidents, the FDA and SEC entered into a new initiative to monitor more closely disclosures made by biotechnology companies. Our interactive panel addressed the implications of this new initiative by the SEC on public as well as private companies in the life sciences, energy, telecommunications, and other regulated industries and will explore the steps companies and their executives can take to minimize liability.
