Getting Unstuck
Mobilizing your Social Intelligence and Presence
Tuesday, May 20, 2008
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Rebecca Shambaugh, author of It's Not A Glass Ceiling, It's A Sticky Floor, returned to WIB
to present a provocative and engaging discussion on what really holds women back from achieving
their career and whole life goals. In this session, attendees learned and applied proven
techniques and tools for addressing one of the more common sticky floors for women --
social intelligence and presence. This forum was experiential and inspired attendees
to take on new behaviors that both enhanced performance as well as increased
credibility, power and influence. "Social Intelligence" is most closely aligned with
successfully gaining the co-operation of others. Whether it pertains to projects you are
working on, client specific initiatives or your own career development, this session helped
participants achieve their career goals. Participants also explored the importance of how
to capitalize on their own Presence and how it showed up; they learned to apply a practical
tool that covered nine elements for capitalizing on this subtle but important area.
Content areas included:
- Examining Your Social Intelligence
- Recognizing the Components of having an effective Presence
- Demonstrating Your Confident Presence
- Being Authentic as You ...Want to Be
- Building Your Empathy (connectedness with others)
