On February 28, 2012 Young Women in Bio (YWIB) will host its Biotechnology Career Leadership for Girls. This event is dedicated to inspiring girls in biotechnology education and career choices. We encourage girls’ curiosity in biotechnology while nurturing a business and entrepreneurial spirit. The event at Biogen will include exposure to many different female science professionals, their careers and experiences; an in-depth look at Biogen as an organization; and a tour of the facility. Women In Bio Chicago: Join 2012 Book Club Series
Women In Bio Chicago is pleased to offer another book club series starting March 20, 2012 focused on helping women build the skill sets they need to develop leadership and entrepreneurship in the life sciences industry. Join us for some great discussion led by local WIB members at some great venues in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs and meet other women in the life science industry for the Women In Bio Chicago “2012 Book Club Series!” Each book club discussion will address practical business issues such as negotiation, personal finance, and typical female behaviors that can undermine a woman’s career. This is another program focused on helping women build the skill sets they need to develop leadership and entrepreneurship in the life sciences industry. And, we’ll have fun! Letter From The President
Happy New Year, Women In Bio! As we enter our 10th year of being one of the leading organizations for women in the life sciences industry, I am honored to serve as the WIB President for such an amazing and diverse group of members and supporters. As outgoing President Deb Bowes expressed in her closing statement of support for our ongoing efforts, “There is still much work for us to do to keep this rapid growth moving forward.”
WIB has gained so much momentum and visibility over the last two years with the expansion of our chapters both nationally and internationally and nearly tripling our membership. This phenomenal growth has been a result of dedicated committee leaders and volunteers as well as the generous, interactive sponsors of this rapidly growing organization.
WIB San Francisco Chapter at JP Morgan Healthcare Conference
Women in Bio San Francisco enjoyed some excellent exposure, promotion and attention at the Biotech Showcase. San Francisco Chapter Members tirelessly evangelized the WIB Mission and promoted the San Francisco Chapter's upcoming launch event to conference participants and guests at several evening receptions including Burrill and Fenwick and West. It was an eventful fun week that generated momentum, mailing lists, and an offer to exhibit at an upcoming Bay Area Conference! Way to go WIB! Thank you in particular to Chris Eckhaus for her tireless work in organizing the table at Biotech showcase and to all San Francisco Chapter Members, Burrill, Fenwick & West, Biotech Showcase, and National WIB for your support and assistance in making this event so successful for WIB San Francisco.
Seattle Women Motivate during WIB/TEDxWomen Event
On December 11, 2011, members of WIB Seattle Metro hosted a TEDxSouthLakeUnionWomen event in collaboration with TEDxWomen, an all-day event that was streamed live from New York and Los Angeles to local gatherings in cities all over the world. Devoted to presenting Ideas Worth Spreading, the event broadcast a dazzling roster of more than 35 speakers. The presentations sparked spirited conversations and renewed passion and commitments to making further inroads for women. WIB Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter Celebrates the Holidays in Style
More than 200 guests gathered at the Glenview Mansion in Rockville, MD on December 6, 2011 to celebrate the holiday season and the official Women In Bio Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter kickoff.
