Women In Bio's first international chapter has launched with the creation of WIB-India. Located in Mumbai, India, the chapter carries out WIB's mission to encourage and foster careers of women in the life sciences and biotechnology industries. In conjunction with WIB's chapters in the United States, the India chapter aspires to provide a platform and to open doors to bridge the gap that prevails between these two countries by offering opportunities to network and develop fruitful associations among its members. As a special initiative, WIB-India is recruiting a task force of Indian women who are passionate in life sciences and believe in the future of women in this sector.

WIB-India actively seeks participation of its members from different fields in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academic, and research institutions. To volunteer on a WIB-India committee, please email India@womeninbio.org.

Events

Women In Bio India Holds Inaugural Event
We are excited to report that the WIB India inaugural event, held on November 30, 2011, at Trident Hotel in Mumbai, was a huge success. Nidhi Saxena MBA, President & CEO, Karmic Labs Pvt. Ltd., Chapter Chair, opened the event by introducing the audience to WIB and speaking about the concept of entrepreneurship along with the objectives and future plans of WIB India. Following Ms. Saxena’s opening remarks; Governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley formally launched the chapter with a diya lighting accompanied by his greetings and a speech.  Dr. Nilima Kshirsagar, National Chair for Clinical Pharmacology, received the WIB India Achiever of the Year Award for 2011 and delivered a great speech on her views on Women In Bio. Dr. Judy Britz, Executive Director of the Maryland Biotechnology Center also spoke to the crowd. The amazing event ended with a wonderful high tea and networking session.
